Drifters
August 11, 2003 12:00 am BoatsWe’re just back from the Fireball National Championship. There wasn’t much wind, we only got five of the planned ten races in and it was pretty hot. But after a spectacularly erratic performance (30 places between our best and worst result, which I think is what’s called a “lumpy consistency”) we managed a not-too-shabby 43rd out of 72. That’s 20 places higher than last year, so at this rate we’ll be National Champions by 2006. Perhaps.
Anyway, apart from the lack of wind it was a splendid week helped along by the supreme affability of the Fireball fleet. And its capacity for beer, of course.
