Vegas Sucks

12:00 am Travel, Bikes

So reads a sticker doing the rounds at this year’s Interbike show. Underneath the declaration of suckitude runs the plea, “Move Interbike To Colorado”. Gets my vote - Las Vegas is amusing for a while, but the novelty kind of wears off. Maybe it’s the heat, or the expense (although at least McCarran Airport has the free Wi-Fi through which I’m now addressing the world, or at least the subset of it that’s paying attention - hello, both of you!) or the bewildering scale of all the buildings that means that the place you’re aiming for appears to be just over there but is actually 40 minutes away. Still, the trails at Bootleg Canyon are fun once you’ve steered your way round the slower elements of the bicycle industry - it might just be me, but I can’t help thinking that if you’re going to be dedicated enough to shave your legs and tattoo your shop’s logo onto your calf, you ought to be respectably quick.

Anyway, it’s all over for another year, hence the whole sitting-in-an-airport-typing thing. Entertainingly, the passenger announcements appear to be being delivered by a Cylon. Not sure what that’s all about…
