It is no more

Much as I consider Monty Python references to be the last refuge of the not-as-funny-as-they-think-they-are, I had to have a quiet chuckle when the lead story on last night’s and this morning’s BBC news was all about a dead parrot. Thankfully no Python quotes were forthcoming, they just had the eminently sensible microbiologist Hugh Pennington telling us that pretty much everything you’ve read about avian flu in the papers is cobblers. In case you hadn’t noticed.

So a Parrot dies, in quarantine and the end of the world is nigh if you’ve seen the front pages of the papers today.

I haven’t seen the front of the papers, does that mean I’m safe?
