So, farewell then, Sir Menzies Campbell. Leader of the Lib Dems for eighteen months, and nobody noticed. Seemed a decent enough chap, but that doesn’t cut it these days, it would seem. Still, I for one will miss the amazing variety of ways in which newsreaders and reporters could manage to pronounce his name - “Ming”, “Mingis”, “Mingyis” and yes, even “Menzies”. You just don’t get that with “Dave”.

They’ll be needing someone else now, of course. Which could be a bit of a struggle - the set of “publically-recognisable Lib Dem MPs” is a matched for smallness only by the set of non-gullible Sun readers.
